- KALABAHI
- Kalabahi
lies inside peaceful
bay. Many ships come here to load fresh water supplies. Aloe
island is rich in beautiful scenery, and its beaches are clean.
- A Moko is a big bronze
drum, one meter in diameter and 90 centimeters tall. Ornaments
are usually engraved around the top and bottom. Bearing features
that once familiar in the Dongsong are of north Vietnam in around
the year 350 BC. The Moko found on Solor could have been brought
there by Merchants from China, Columbia, or Champa. Mokos
are usually found in the open.

- The Tuti hot water spring
which is found in the vicinity is a great tourist attraction.

- WAI KABUBAK
- A neat little down in Western
Sumba, full of old graves carved in motifs of buffalo- horns,
manheads, horses, nude men or women symbolizing social status
or the wealth of the people.
- West Sumba is the regency
whose capital is Waikabubak. It can be reached by plane from
Kupang and Denpasar via Waingapu, or by sea via the harbor of
Waikelo.
- Riht in the capital city of
Waikabubak, you can the following tombs : Kadung Tana, Watakaragata,
and Bulu Peka Mila Tarung Village, an important ceremonial
center, is located on top of a hill, just a half kilometer to
the west of Waikabubak.
- There are several megalithic
tombs. The front of many traditional houses are decorated with
huge water buffalo horns from the animals sacrificed during rituals
of years gone by.

- ANAKALANG
- The village is about 20 km
from Waikabubak with is large graveyard (the largest megalitics
in Sumba). The tombs are always with unusual carvings. Anakalang
is the site of the _Purung Takadonga Ratu and important
mass marriage festival held every two years, on a date determined
by the full moon.

- WAINGAPU
- Waingapu is good for day tripping the interesting
villages in the blankets are made and where the storm can be
found.

- RE N D E
- Rende village is the sights several traditional
style buffalo-horn adorned Sumba houses and a number of massive
carved stone graves.

- UMABARA
- Umabara has several traditional
Sumba houses and tombs.

- KALIUDA
- One of the ikat weaving centers
of the area.
